India vs England LIVE commentary: Visitors in need of fast start on day two with hosts on top

England 246-10 vs India 119-1

Right, that’s it from us today.

We have seen pretty much everything in a fascinating opening day of Test cricket.

England won the toss and batted first, making it to 246 all out despite a brilliant 70 from Ben Stokes.

The Indian spinners proved to be too good for England’s batters.

In response, the hosts have raced to well over 100 runs and Yashasvi Jaiswal is unbeaten on 75.

Still, the game is in the balance because should England get a couple of quick wickets, it’s game on.

If not, India could run away with it.

Therefore, it’s finely poised and I hope you can all join me again tomorrow morning.

Duckett reflects on day one

England batter Ben Duckett has been speaking to the media about the first day of the opening Test match in this series.

He said: “I think that pitch was quite tricky. There was consistent spin throughout the day, so we were really happy with 246, and on another day, we take three or four wickets there.

“I thought they played really well at the end, but I can’t see that pitch getting any better.

“We need wickets. Forget about the runs, we are going to try and attack them.”
