Fulham v Liverpool preview

Liverpool head into the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi final with a 2-1 advantage from the first leg and with one foot in next month’s final at Wembley.

Jurgen Klopp’s side head into the match having won their last five matches, their most recent of which, a 4-0 win away at Bournemouth, saw them extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points.

The Reds have lost only once in all domestic competitions this season, coming in a controversial defeat away at Tottenham back in September, leaving them 17 games without defeat domestically.

Liverpool are the Carabao Cup’s most successful team and will be aiming to win a record-extending 10th title, and their second in three years having won their ninth in 2022 with a penalty shoot-out victory over Chelsea.

Fulham prepare for the visit of Liverpool having lost four of their last six matches as they bid to overturn their first leg deficit to reach their first ever Carabao Cup final.

Marco Silva’s side’s most recent match, a 1-0 defeat in a Premier League west London derby at Stamford Bridge, has left them 13th in the league table, making them five points shy of the top half of the table, but eight comfortable points clear of the relegation zone.

The Cottagers have won five of their last six matches at home, which include two 5-0 league wins and a victory over Arsenal in another London derby.

Fulham have never made it this far in this competition before, their previous best result being a quarter final appearance, and with the London side never having won a major trophy in their history, this could be the perfect opportunity for them to break their duck.

Liverpool have won their last three games against Fulham, but have only managed a draw on each of their last two visits to Craven Cottage, though that would be enough for them on Wednesday to reach a record-extending 14th Carabao Cup final.

Silva has an unfavourable record against Klopp so far in their managerial careers, winning only one of their nine meetings, a record which the Portuguese is going to have to improve if he is to deliver silverware to Fulham fans for the first time.

📝 Fulham v Liverpool betting tips

Liverpool head to the capital on a strong winning run, but bump into Fulham side who have performed well in recent home matches, scoring freely in most.

BetVictor have boosted the odds for Liverpool to win and both teams to score to 23/10, which could be well worth a punt.

The same bookie have also increased the odds on Diogo Jota, who has seven goal involvements in his last five games, including scoring twice on the weekend against Bournemouth, to bag another brace, to 9/1, which could also prove profitable.
