Bournemouth vs Arsenal predictions

Arsenal have three more games before the October international break – two in the Premier League and one in the Champions League.

Mikel Arteta will take his players to Lens to take on the French side in midweek, a few days after which Arsenal will renew hostilities with Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.

Both of those fixtures will be playing on Arteta’s mind already, but it is his job to ensure that Arsenal are fully focused on Bournemouth this weekend.

This is the type of match in which the Gunners cannot afford to drop points. Manchester City are already setting a relentless pace at the summit of the Premier League standings, having won six matches out of six so far.

Arsenal are already four points adrift of the champions in top spot. A failure to win on Saturday could see the deficit grow to six or seven points ahead of that head-to-head clash next weekend.

This is a hugely important game for Arsenal, then, and a lack of focus could result in a slip-up.

Having said that, Arteta’s side have an excellent away record and should ultimately have too much quality for Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

They ground out a 1-0 victory over Brentford in the EFL Cup on Wednesday despite naming a weakened side.

And although Arsenal failed to beat Tottenham Hotspur last time out in the Premier League, there were positives (and a few negatives) to take from the 2-2 draw.

A win on the south coast would set Arsenal up nicely for their trip across the Channel this coming week.

📝 Bournemouth vs Arsenal betting tips

Bournemouth are still without a Premier League win this season and Saturday’s match could end in more disappointment for the home team.

Arsenal to win to nil – 2/1 (bet365)

At the time of writing we do not know the status of a few key Arsenal players with regard to Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth.

Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard all face a race against time to be fit, while Gabriel Martinelli is an even bigger doubt for this contest.

The worst-case scenario – that all four players fail to make it – would be a blow, albeit one that Arsenal should be able to absorb.

Anyway, it would be a surprise if all four men were unable to take part. Saka is used to dealing with knocks as one of the most fouled players in the country, while Arteta has already explained that Rice’s injury is nothing major.

Arsenal are unlikely to be at full strength, however, and with those games against Lens and Manchester City on the horizon, this will not be a 100-miles-per-hour performance from the visitors.

Arteta will want to see poise, control and game management from his team, so do not expect Arsenal to take huge risks or create an end-to-end encounter.

The Gunners have won 1-0 at Crystal Palace, Everton and Brentford already this season, subduing their opponents on both occasions while doing enough to put the ball in the back of the net at the other end.

That could be a recipe for success against Bournemouth too.

Back Arsenal to win and keep a clean sheet at 2/1 with bet365

Arsenal/Arsenal half-time/full-time – 13/10 (bet365)

It took Arsenal until the second half to make the breakthrough at Selhurst Park and Goodison Park, but they were quicker out of the blocks in midweek.

Reiss Nelson struck in the eighth minute at the Gtech Community Stadium and that proved to be the winner against Brentford.

With a busy week ahead, Arteta will encourage his team to wrap this one up as quickly as possible.

Bournemouth are still finding their feet under Andoni Iraola. It has been a difficult start, with three draws and three losses so far.

The Cherries remain outside the bottom three for now, but that is largely because the three promoted clubs have been exceptionally poor.

Bournemouth should improve as they grow more and more accustomed to the methods of their new manager, but this will be another tough game for a side that has conceded in the first half in four of its last five league outings.

Choose Arsenal/Arsenal in the half-time/full-time market at 13/10 with bet365

Under 2.5 goals – 6/4 (bet365)

Three matches represents a small sample size but it is certainly interesting that Arsenal’s away results this season read: 0-1, 0-1, 0-1.

Arteta’s team have conceded in each of their Premier League home games so far, but they have been defensively perfect on the road.

In fact, they have given up just seven shots on target at opposition grounds – and four of those came in the EFL Cup.

For the reasons we mentioned above, control will be the order of the day for Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium.

The bookies are expecting a high-scoring game, with over 2.5 goals available at 8/15.

But the smarter pick would be two goals or fewer. Arsenal will be content with holding Bournemouth, who are averaging less than a goal a game in 2023/24, at arm’s length.

And if the visitors were to take a 2-0 lead for the first time in an away game this season, they would consider that a job well done.

Choose under 2.5 goals at 6/4 with bet365
