Conor McGregor was one of the few MMA fans happy after Noche UFC.

The Mexican fight star submitted Sheckehnko last year to win the 125lb belt, but she needed some help from the judges to retain it when they fought again at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

After five rounds of back-and-forth action, Grasso kept her belt courtesy of 48-47, 47-48, and 47-47 scorecards from the cageside judges who called the fight a split draw.

McGregor was delighted with what he had just witnessed and immediately talked up the prospect of a trilogy fight between Grasso and Shevchenko.

He tweeted: “An absolute corker of a fight!”

“All timer in WMMA [in my opinion]. And it ends in a draw!

“Wow, wow, wow! Well done Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko! Incredible!”

“Fair draw. Valentina unlucky for sure but a draw is fair in my opinion, run it back. Viva Mexico!”

While McGregor thought the result was fair, many other people on social media disagreed and voiced their concerns about Shevchenko being hard done by.

Judge Mike Bell came under fire for scoring the final round 10-8 for Grasso.

One person tweeted: “She got robbed it was 48-47 Shevchenko.”

Another wrote: “Valentina won. She knows it. The crowd knows it. The judges know it.”

Someone else added: “Mike Bell has had an absolute mare. Gives Grasso a 10-8 in the fifth. If he hadn’t, Valentina Shevchenko regains the championship. Great fight, spoiled.”

A fourth person said: “Mike Bell should never be allowed to judge another fight How do you score a 10-8 round for Grasso in round 5? Like WTF are you watching dumba**?!! Valentina got robbed 100%.”

Shevchenko voiced her discontent about the decision post-fight.

‘I think it really was 3-2 on my side,” she said.

“But the judges I think felt a little bit of pressure because it’s Mexican Independence Day, that’s why they give one more to the Mexican fighter.

“I fought to the end, and I think I did enough. In a fair competition, the victory would be mine.”

Of course, Grasso disagrees with her rival, and it seems like the only way to settle the debate once and for all is to have them square off for a third time.

If that happens, you can be sure McGregor will be tuning in.
