The 2023 US Open marks the end of this year’s Grand Slams and presents one final chance for British tennis players to claim major glory.

Emma Raducanu famously became a household name overnight with a stunning win in New York City in 2021, so a similar opportunity awaits.

Unfortunately, she isn’t involved this time after undergoing surgery earlier this year to fix several problems.

She’s back on the practice court but won’t be heading Stateside this time.

But there are still plenty of Brits set to be involved at Flushing Meadows and they have all made a great start to the tournament.

Andy Murray

Arguably one of Britain’s greatest-ever sportspeople and would almost certainly have won more than three Grand Slams had injuries not blighted his career.

The 36-year-old won this tournament in 2012 when he was at the peak of his powers.

But he enters this time ranked No.37 in the world, which might seem low, but it’s the highest he has been since 2018.

2023 has been a much better year for Murray, but he isn’t the player he was and is unlikely to go far.

Cameron Norrie

Norrie is the British No.1 and ranked 16th in the world.

He has won five ranking titles but is yet to win a Grand Slam.

However, he managed to beat defending men’s singles champion Carlos Alcaraz earlier this year and made it to the round of 16 last time.

If Britain are to have a winner in the men’s or women’s singles, it will most likely be Norrie.

He is seeded, so won’t have to negotiate any potentially tricky qualifiers.

Dan Evans

Evans is also set to be seeded for this tournament and is the current British No.2 and ranked number 26 in the world.

The 33-year-old has been around for a long time but always performs well on hard courts.

In the singles, he has never done that well at Flushing Meadows but has reached the fourth round as part of a doubles pair.

But as he’s got older, he’s developed into a better player, and if he gets a favourable draw, who knows how far he could go.

Katie Boulter

Boulter is the British female No.1 and arguably represents the best chance of replicating Raducanu.

She is ranked 60th in the world but has been backed to compete with the very best.

The 27-year-old made it to the third round at Wimbledon earlier this year.

And she doesn’t have to play any part in qualifying and enters the tournament as part of the main draw.

Jodie Burrage

The 24-year-old is still looking to break through at the top of the game.

But she reached the second round of Wimbledon this summer and will be eager to build on that.

Burrage is currently just inside the world’s top 100 but a good run in NYC would move her up the standings.
